Situated in the heart of Christleton village lies the Christleton Institute, just a stone’s throw from St James Church and a couple of miles from the beautiful city of Chester. Our venue is available for exclusive, free hire Monday to Friday and occasional weekends and is fully licensed. We pride ourselves on a unique mix of locally sourced drink options, some more mainstream products and some that you’ll not find for miles around. St James' Church played host on Friday evening to the Kelsborrow Choir. It was great to see them return to St James' Church. The Choir provided an evening of music from famous stage and screen productions such as Les Misérables, and Evita together with wonderful renditions of hit songs such as "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" amongst many others. This event was supporting the "St James' New Beginnings Church Development Project". The evening raised over £800 (including a raffle) which again was such an astonishing amount!

It was a very enjoyable evening with some wonderful organ improvisations and a very apt version of "Three blind mice" played in a Mozart style. It was very apt because the conductor/director who played the improvised piece did not realise that earlier last year St James' Church organ actually did play …
As our fund-raising thermometer for St James' "New Beginnings Church Development Project" climbs evermore skywards our excitement grows with it! We are truly amazed and so thankful to the community for their efforts.
Our latest fund raiser was a talk given by David & Beryl Cummings at Christleton Parish Hall on Saturday 11th October. The talk given by David was in memory of the late former Headmaster of Christleton High School, Mr Phil Hodges and his wife Pat. The talk was also about the history, wildlife and scenery of the Isles of Scilly. This event was very well attended indeed. The amounts raised have so far been calculated at £930. Mr Hodges was also a very keen artist and has been involved in providing artwork for a number of local publications for many years. Additionally, some of his works are still being sold. We await the final figures, and …

It's necessary to change the date of the September lunch. Now 22 Sept. Apologies for any inconvenience, but it has been caused by staff availability difficulties. Everyone in the kitchen must be trained in food handling & hygiene requirements and be able to cater for large numbers. Not everyone can do that.
The August lunch and those from October onwards are unaffected - only September has changed.
We hope you can come and enjoy good food & fellowship. You don't have to book a place (except for the Christmas lunch) so just come - we'll be pleased to welcome you. For a vegetarian option or special dietary needs then just talk to us in advance, or on the day before the meal is served. Thank you.
We welcome any voluntary cash donations towards costs. Often, there's a contactless card machine as well.

Many thanks to all who came to the St James' Church Summer Garden party 2 weeks ago. It turned out to be a particularly hot summers day which included some deliciously prepared food. Despite a rather shaky start to the afternoon caused by a road incident which unfortunately did prevent a few coming along, the event was very successful and enjoyable!
The figures are now in! We raised £900 which is an astonishing amount and will go towards the St James' Church Development Fund. This event attracted 50 people.
We can also announce too that Janet & John's Coffee Morning raised an amazing amount of £671.80 which will also go towards the St James' Church Development Fund and was attended by 45 people.
St James' Church and PCC would like to thank everyone who helped to bring these events together without which these funds would not have been raised.
Thankyou …
